World Book Day

This year, our children celebrated World Book Day by reading a book called “Welcome” and they took part in lots of different activities about the story.

The older children explored the theme of global warming whilst children in years 3 and 4 considered the plight of refugees. Our younger children acted out the story and used musical instruments to add their own sound effects whilst children in year 2 got the chance to alter parts of the story. Edith said, “The family felt different feelings on their journey as a refugee. They were sad to leave those that they knew behind yet they were hopeful for a better life. They were relieved when the storm was over but disappointed when they saw signs telling them to stay away from a new country.”
