Pontefract Castle

21.03.2024

This week, the children in Year 2 visited Pontefract Castle as part of their local history work that they have been studying in their lessons. The children had a guided tour of the ruins and even got the opportunity to take a trip to the dark dungeons. The class also got the chance to compare life as they know it to what it would have been like as a young person working in the castle many years ago. Thomas said, “I liked it in the dungeons. I even saw my name on the walls. The people who were sent down there took the metal off their belt to make marks in the wall.”  Emilia added, “We made a picture of a castle and we added the features like the keep, the moat and the bailey.”

Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
