This week, the children in year 1 had a special online meeting with author and illustrator Jane Porter to learn more about her job. Before the meeting, the children thought about questions they wanted to ask Jane and she was able to answer them all. The class also created a story outline with Jane. The children gave Jane their ideas and she was able to illustrate these into a story map which the class can now use to write their story. Eva said, “Jane told us that to make her job easier, she keeps her ideas in a box. Then, she can use these when needed to write a story.” Iris added, “The class came up with a story about a dog being kidnapped by a dog catcher. In the end, we found a way of saving the dog and taught the dog catcher how to look after pets.”
