This week, some of our children in years 3 and 4 performed a Makaton signed Christmas song to the whole of the school during our special mentions assembly. These children have been learning Makaton in a weekly club. Initially, the children learnt basic greetings including how to sign please and thank you. After, the children learnt how to sign animals and used these skills to perform nursery rhymes. Emilia said, “Makaton is an important skill to learn because, if people are struggling to talk, you can communicate with them in a different way.” Vlad added, “I really enjoyed performing the Christmas song in front of all the other children. It allowed them to learn more about sign language and be respectful and tolerant of difference.”
Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
