Last week, the children in year 4 visited the Art House in Wakefield to look at a new exhibition featuring the work of British Muslim artist Zarah Hussain. The children have been learning about the distinguishable features of Islamic art in their religious education lessons. They have also been able to compare the artwork in the museum to the stained glass windows of the local church.
Chase said, “I recognised symmetrical and repeated patterns in the artwork. This was similar to other Islamic art that we had seen before. I also saw that the artist had used vibrant colours, such as green, blue, gold and white, in her work.” Harper added, “I liked the use of geometric shapes and I think this made the carpet a peaceful place to sit or pray on.”
Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
