Last week, the children in year 6 went back in time to find out what life was like as an evacuee during World War Two. The children visited Lotherton Hall in Leeds and took part in lots of activities that children would have done during the War. The class learned how to apply bandages to minor cuts and injuries and how to cook meals, such as potato stew, without food that was rationed. Angela said, “When the first bell sounded, it signalled an air raid. We had to run to the chapel and sing songs.” Tommy added, “The second alarm was more like a rattle. This time, it notified us of a gas attack. We knew we had to put our gas masks on immediately to keep safe.”
Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
