Last week, the children in year 5 assisted the local community in Tesco by helping to pack their shopping. The children are working towards a citizenship award and their work in the local supermarket allowed them to offer their support. The class had already learnt about the role of volunteers and how it impacts others during their religious education lessons earlier in the year. Angela said, “I enjoyed helping the people who needed assistance such as a woman with a young baby. It was also good to speak to the customers as we were packing the bags.” Mrs Shaw, the class teacher, added, “The children received lots of praise and positive comments about their behaviour.”
