Recently, the children in year 4 took part in a special workshop to find out more about the Mayan civilization that they have been learning about in their history lessons. The children explored a range of artefacts, tasted the food that Mayans ate and explored their number system. Afterwards, the children created their own drama performances based upon what they had learnt! Elsie said, “I learnt that the Mayans spoke lots of different languages in order to communicate with each other.” Toby added, “We acted out a Mayan ball game where the winners of the game were sacrificed. It was believed that some were decapitated or taken by the Mayan Gods.”
