A proud member of

The General Election

12.07.2024

Last Thursday, most of our children had the opportunity to vote in the West End Academy general election. Over the last few weeks, the children in year 4 have formed political parties and thought about how they would like to improve the school.  The parties wrote manifestos and these were presented to the rest of the school in a special assembly as they campaigned for votes. Scarlett, the leader of the winning party, said, “I enjoyed working with new people to come up with ideas and then designing posters to promote them.”  Ben added, “One of our British values is democracy. It is important to vote so that people have a choice and can decide on what happens next.”

Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.

Year 1:  Anastazja Podsiedlik

Year 2:  Mia-Slater Gillespie

Year 3:  Eva Harratt

Year 4:  Isla Wainwright

Year 5:  Shay Lawton

Year 6:  Lennon Parsons
