Pontefract Castle

Last week, the children in Year 2 visited Pontefract Castle as part of their local history work that they have been studying in their lessons. The children had a guided tour of the ruins and even got the opportunity to take a trip to the dark dungeons. The class also got the chance to compare life as they know it to what it would have been like as a young person working in the castle many years ago. Angela said, “I liked it in the dungeons. The people who were sent down there took the metal off their belt to make marks in the wall.”  Henley added, “We made a crown which was worn by a king and the queen wore a tiara.  The lords wore smart clothes but they didn’t wear a crown.”

Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
