Yesterday, the children attended a special whole-school assembly to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day which signalled the end of World War Two. During the assembly, our reading ambassadors shared a poem to allow children to think about war and VE Day. The children were also able to learn more about the historical significance of VE Day by hearing recounts from famous figures. Hunter said, “I enjoyed listening to the powerful speech from Winston Churchill. It made me feel happy when the war was over.” Ben added, “After the war ended, people were in a celebratory mood. Street parties also allowed people to remember those that sacrificed themselves in the war.”
Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
