The children in year 2 are continuing to work hard on developing their reading fluency so that they become more confident reading a range of texts. In lessons, the children are having plenty of opportunities to listen to an adult read to them. They are also taking part in “echo reading” where the children repeat what an adult has read to them. This also allows children to read with more expression. After one of their fluency sessions, Chloe said, “Echo reading helps me to recognise the words because the teacher has already said them.” Harry added, “I like following the text with my fluency finger while the teacher reads the passage. Then, when its my turn to read, I don’t miss a word out.”
Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.
