A proud member of

The Lady With The Lamp

21.05.2021

Last week, the children in Year 2 had a virtual meeting with Florence Nightingale.

The children found out more about her including why she became a nurse, the challenges she faced when working at Scutari hospital and her achievements when she returned home. They also explored some objects and inferred how Florence used these whilst working at the hospital during the Crimean War.

Lyla-Mae said, “We learnt that Florence discovered that the hospitals were dirty places, full of germs and she wanted to clean them up to make the soldiers healthy again.” All the class agreed that it was a very informative, fun session and they have learnt lots about the ‘lady with the lamp’.

Congratulations to the following children for winning an achievement award at Tuesday’s assembly.

Year 2:  Harry Smith
