This week, the children in Year 5 visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to help them get a better understanding of different statues. In art lessons, the children have been exploring statutes and sculptures from Ancient Greece. They have started to make Mod Roc sculptures in the style of Alberto Giacometti. The children will use new ideas from the sculpture park to develop their artwork. Whitney-Mai said, “When we sketched the sculptures, we considered how to make the drawing look 3D. We did this by showing where the lighter or darker places were.” Ethan added, “I enjoyed creating my own statue from different materials although it was hard to keep it upright.”
